The Essential Theatre, Inc. is holding the “Sand and Serenity Raffle” to support the production of the 2025 Essential Theatre Play Festival. Tickets will be sold until 4pm on August 31, 2025. The drawing will take place at 5pm on August 31, 2025, at Seven Stages (1105 Euclid Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA 30307).
The Prize for the Winner is a three-night stay at a privately owned beach house on Daufuskie Island, S.C. (Value: $1,050). Restrictions apply (see below).
Terms and Conditions for the “Sand and Serenity Raffle”
1. Licensing and Compliance
The “Sand and Serenity Raffle” is conducted by The Essential Theatre, Inc., a Georgia non-profit organization, in compliance with all applicable Georgia state laws governing non-profit raffles. Essential Theatre, Inc. has obtained all necessary licenses and permits required to conduct this raffle.
2. Eligibility
Participation in the raffle is open to individuals who are at least 18 years of age at the time of ticket purchase. Tickets may only be purchased by residents of the United States, and the raffle is void where prohibited by law. Winner will be required to provide proof of age and identity at the time of prize acceptance. Essential Theatre staff, artists, and volunteer board members are eligible to participate in this raffle without any preferential treatment.
3. Prize Details
The prize for the “Sand and Serenity Raffle” is a three-night stay at a privately owned beach house on Daufuskie Island. The beach house includes two bedrooms with modern accommodations. The stay must take place before April 1, 2026, and the dates are subject to availability at the time of reservation. Daufuskie Island is car-free. The winner is responsible for all travel expenses and any additional costs incurred during the stay, including but not limited to ferry passage, ground transportation, and golf cart rental. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
4. Winner Selection
The winner will be selected through a random drawing process conducted on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at 5 pm at Seven Stages, located at 1105 Euclid Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA 30307, and will be overseen by an independent witness to ensure fairness and transparency. Winner need not be present at the drawing and will be contacted using the information provided on the winning ticket. Winner shall have five days to claim the prize, and if the prize has gone unclaimed it will go to an alternate winner(s) selected at the drawing. Winner consents to the use of their name, comments, and photographs by the Essential Theatre for promotional purposes without further compensation unless requested otherwise in writing at the time of acceptance.
5. Tax Implications
The winner is solely responsible for all taxes, including federal, state, and local taxes, associated with the prize. The Essential Theatre, Inc. will report the prize value ($1,050.00) to the IRS as required by law. The winner shall be required to complete and submit a W-9 form to The Essential Theatre, Inc. for tax reporting purposes.
6. Refund Policy
All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be issued for any reason, including but not limited to the cancellation of the raffle or the winner’s inability to claim the prize.
7. Force Majeure
The Essential Theatre, Inc. shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation under these terms and conditions due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, civil unrest, or any other unforeseen events. The Essential Theatre is not liable for any loss, injury, death, accident, theft, illness, or other misfortune of any nature whatsoever incurred during this trip or resulting from it. By accepting the Prize, the Winner releases Essential, its employees, trustees, agents, and attorneys from any and all obligations to the Prize and any and all claims or causes of action that may exist against Essential Theatre, known or unknown, as well as any such obligations, claims, or causes of action arising from the Winner’s acceptance of the Prize. Essential makes no warranty whatsoever, express or implied, with respect to the Prize.
8. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from or related to the raffle shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall take place in Atlanta, GA, and the decision of the arbitrator shall be final and binding.
9. Privacy Policy
The Essential Theatre, Inc. is committed to protecting the privacy of all participants. Personal information collected during the raffle will be used solely for the purpose of administering the raffle and will not be shared with third parties, except as required by law.
10. Void Where Prohibited
The “Sand and Serenity Raffle” is void where prohibited by law. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that their participation complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Raffle tickets or payments for purchase of raffle tickets may not be deposited in the federal postal service; doing so is a violation of federal laws and may lead to penalties. By purchasing a ticket, participants agree to abide by these terms and conditions. The Essential Theatre, Inc. reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
