Essential Theatre Presents

Is your play ready to meet the world? Are you ready to produce it on your own but not sure where to start? Are you a resident of the state of Georgia? Then let us help! Submit your project for consideration for Essential Theatre Presents!

Essential Theatre Presents is a two-night performance opportunity
that takes place during the Essential Theatre Play Festival in August.

Submit your proposal via the link at the bottom of the page by 11:59pm on Monday, May 27, 2019 (Memorial Day). Submissions will be reviewed over the following week, and the winner will be announced Monday, June 3.

What you get:

Production support: Technician and stage for one day of rehearsal plus two days of performance. Basic repertory light plot. Qlab for audio playback. Dates for the 2019 Festival are August 14, 15 and 16.

Marketing support: Meet the Playwright/Artists blog post (see examples here), show page on Essential website (examples: 2017, 2018), graphic design support if desired, a Facebook Event co-hosted with Essential (examples: 2017, 2018), listing in Essential’s email newsletter, a minimum of 3-5 social media posts, press release.

Box office support: ticketing handled through Essential Theatre box office. 50/50 box office split after technician fee has been deducted. Promo code for both complimentary and discounted tickets to use at your discretion.

What you must have:

A performance-ready play.
What this means: your script is complete, you have performers and design elements in place. You just need an audience and a stage.

What you agree to provide:

Clear, articulated goals you hope to achieve through this presentation (e.g., to raise awareness of the play’s subject, to expose your play to possible future producers, to showcase the project and fundraise for future productions, etc)

Participation in a talkback or meet and greet for at least one of the performances of your play: active audience engagement is central to Essential Theatre’s mission.
