Medical Miracles From People Who Cares

Tubal Reversal vs. IVF: Which Choice is best?
By Susan Conway M.D., M.P.H., M.M.Sc.
Sterilization is the most common contraceptive method utilized by couples in the United States.  Approximately 27% of fertile women choose tubal sterilization as their method of contraception.  About half of these surgeries are performed within 48 hours post-partum and the other half as interval procedures remote from a pregnancy.  The procedures are meant to be permanent and most women enter into the decision with a sincere intention to prevent additional pregnancies.

But life is full of surprises. Circumstances change, relationships change and family-building goals may change accordingly.  Despite having consented to permanent sterilization, up to 14.3% of sterilized women request information regarding fertility options within 14 years of the procedure.  What are the options couples who desire pregnancy following tubal sterilization? read more

An Oocyte Recipient Says, "Thank You" "I look forward to telling my children one day about the stranger who gave so much for someone they did not even know and teaching them to live their lives with the same compassion and generosity towards the world that you are exhibiting."

"Thank you so much for what you are doing and know that if we are successful in getting the family that we so desperately want we will forever be indebted to you and will never take for granted what we all had to go through to create these little miracles." more

Upcoming Research Study

Joining Us at GRS

Tamara has recently joined GRS and serves as our physician liason and marketing expert. You will meet her if you attend one of our IVF After Hours Sessions.

Gail comes to GRS with over 15 years of infertility and in-vitro fertilization experience. A graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria, IL, she spent her early years as a labor & delivery RN before becoming part of the IVF Team at the University of MS Medical Center in 1985. She enjoys reading non-fiction books and traveling. She has visited the continent of Antarctica, and enjoys her 35+ year friendship with her penpal in Tasmania, Australia. She is privileged to be a part of Team Kaplan here at GRS.

Jacqueline is the new coordinator for the third-party reproduction program. She's a native Georgian who graduated from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University and has over three years of experience in reproductive medicine. After beginning her nursing career in a hospital setting, she now enjoys working with couples wanting to build a family. She had always heard that GRS was a great place to work and is proud to be part of our team. Jacqueline is married and enjoys shopping, cooking and playing with her dog.

Getting Started at GRS
The first appointment at GRS is a very important one and we encourage both partners to attend. During the first appointment, you will meet your physician to discuss your medical history and, based on initial information, some tests may be performed. The most successful initial consultations occur when your physician knows as much information as possible about your medical history and prior tests or treatments. We encourage our patients to be open with their physician and to become an active participant in their healthcare. You will also meet a nurse who will be the one to review medication details and additional tests that need to be performed, based on the initial test results, during follow-up visits.

Ready to make your first appointment with GRS?
Please call Sandy, our New Patient Coordinator, at 404-843-2229 x192.  Sandy is constantly on the phone scheduling appointments so it will be necessary for you to leave a message in her voicemail.  She’ll return your call within 24 hours and give you all the information you will need to get started at Georgia Reproductive Specialists.  We look forward to meeting you!
